FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What exactly will need to be installed?

We will install 40kWh of battery backup plus the off-grid battery inverter. The storage system can be charged by the grid and has optional PV inputs. We will also install a sub panel for powering critical circuits of your choice.

2. Are these batteries safe?

Absolutely! We only use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFeP04) batteries with an integrated battery management system. This new generation of battery chemistry is far more stable than Lithium Ion batteries, which are susceptible to thermal runoff and overheating.

3. Will batteries save me money on my electric bill?

Yes! We program out batteries to charge when power is the cheapest and discharge when power is the most expensive. This allows homes to use more power for less and maximize electricity savings. Depending on usage and your utility billing plan, you may save up to $4,000 each year.

4. Will this affect my existing solar system?

No. The battery backup system is installed on a completely separate circuit from your existing solar system(s). This ensures that performance and warranties of an existing solar system(s) will not be affected.

5. Who actually owns the backup system?

The batteries and backup equipment are owned by Tigris Energy through a payment-free lease for the first five years. Tigris Energy is responsible for any maintenance required for the backup system. After five years, you may elect to take possession at depreciated market value or continue to use the system for a favorable monthly fee.

6. Can I also use a gas generator?

Yes! The battery inverter has an input for standard gas generators. For extended outages, you can store power from a generator which can be used any time you need it.
